What is freediving?
Freediving is the art of diving underwater on a single breath—without the use of any equipment. It’s one of the most natural ways to explore the ocean, relying purely on your body, your breath, and your ability to stay calm and relaxed.
Unlike scuba diving, where you carry tanks and gear, freediving is minimal. When you take a single breath and dive into the ocean, you feel one with it. It is one of the most intense and peaceful experiences.

Schedule

Day 1– Introduction, Relaxation, Mask, Snorkel, Depth, Pressure, Buoyancy, Breathing, Mammalian reflex. Practice in pool

What do we teach?
What you will experience?
Freediving is not just about going deeper.
It’s about slowing down, letting go, and learning to feel at ease in a world beneath the surface.
This course is designed to help you move from uncertainty → comfort → confidence, step by step, in a safe and supportive environment.
🌊 Build Comfort in Water
Before anything else, we focus on helping you feel at home in the water.
Through guided relaxation and breathwork, you’ll learn how to stay calm, conserve energy, and enjoy being underwater—without panic or rush.
🧠 Understand the “Why”
You’ll learn the fundamentals of freediving in a simple, intuitive way:
- How pressure affects your body
- Why buoyancy changes with depth
- What really causes the urge to breathe
- How your body naturally adapts underwater
This knowledge builds confidence and removes fear.
🤿 Learn Essential Freediving Skills
From your first breath-hold to your first descent, you’ll be guided through:
- Mask clearing & snorkel techniques
- Breath-hold training
- Controlled descents along a dive line
- Body positioning & efficient movement
All practiced first in a pool, where you can learn comfortably.
⚖️ Master Equalisation & Safety
Safety is at the heart of everything we do.
- Learn simple, effective equalisation techniques
- Understand how to listen to your body
- Practice buddy communication & dive protocols
- Get introduced to basic rescue awareness
You’ll not just dive—you’ll dive responsibly.
👥 Dive Together, Learn Together
You’ll train in small groups with a strong buddy system:
- 3 divers per rope
- One dives, one supports
- Constant supervision and guidance
This creates a safe, encouraging space to learn and grow.
📈 Progress at Your Own Pace
We don’t chase depth—we build towards it.
- Start with time and comfort underwater
- Gradually explore depth as your confidence grows
- Move forward only when you’re ready
This ensures a stress-free and enjoyable learning experience.
🌍 Transition to Open Water
Once you’re comfortable, you’ll take your skills into the open waters:
- Experience real diving conditions
- Learn about currents, temperature & visibility
- Adapt your skills to natural environments
This is where everything comes together.
🪢 Learn Practical Setup & Techniques
You’ll also gain hands-on knowledge of:
How dive systems are structured
Buoy, rope & weight setup
Essential knots used in freediving
📓 Track Your Journey
You’ll maintain a personal logbook to record:
- Breath-hold times
- Depth progression
- Skills achieved
A simple way to see how far you’ve come.
🌱 More Than Just a Skill

And most importantly,
you’ll discover a deeper connection with the ocean—and with yourself.

Long read ahead but have to share this. The last 4 days have been the most beautiful, peaceful, calming, humbling and transformative experiences of my life. For someone who started learning swimming only 3 months ago and arrived with no expectations, this journey quietly changed the way I see myself. In the stillness of the quarry, the world seemed to fade away. What I found in those depths was not a challenge to overcome, but the relationship with water I had always dreamed of….one built on trust, respect, and surrender. Every metrer down felt like a conversation with a part of myself I had never met before. What surprised me most… wasn’t the 11-metre dive or the 3-minute breath hold I did. It was realizing that many of MY LIMITS were simply stories I had been telling myself. Beneath the surface, I discovered a quiet strength and calmness I didn’t know I possessed. My deepest gratitude to all the participants, especially @Yuvaraj FBC , @Jamila M Morudwala FBC , and @Santhoshi Ramachandran FBC, for making the journey so memorable. Being around you guys pushed, relaxed and reassured me in the most beautiful way. Every dive became an invitation to discover what more was possible. Thank you @Sneha, for being an incredible instructor and for sharing personal anecdotes from your diving experience. Your journey is absolutely inspiring. Extremely grateful for your patient guidance and gentle encouragement that pushed me beyond what I thought was my limit. Thank you Shakthi for being a constant source of support throughout. And @Peter Van Geit … thank you for creating such a well structured workshop and for providing a beautiful, safe, fun, supportive and immersive experience. None of this would have been possible without your uplifting energy and calming presence. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Sharath from Wild Swim Club, my coach Bala, Srikanth, Sathish, and Divya. Without their encouragement, this journey would never have begun. Somewhere in that deep blue silence I realized…my first deep dive workshop wasn’t really into the water….it was into myself 🤍. Can’t wait for many more dives, many more waters, and many more moments of wonder with you guys. Grateful beyond words and humbled 🤍.

Hola Peter & Sneha,
The entire course was exceptionally well structured, with a perfect balance of theory and practical sessions. What stood out most was the individual attention and care that both of you gave to every participant in the batch.
No matter a person’s comfort level, strengths, or challenges, you ensured that everyone felt supported, safe, and confident throughout the learning process. From Sudhakar and me, who came in as non-swimmers, to @Aurosri Ramachandran Meenakshi FBC, @Yuvaraj FBC, @Jamila M Morudwala FBC and @Santhoshi Ramachandran FBC, who were already strong swimmers, every participant received the same level of attention, encouragement, and guidance. Your patience and willingness to spend time with each person made the experience truly special.
One moment that will stay with me forever was my first freedive in open water. As a non-swimmer, Peter came up to me and said, “Stay calm. Whatever happens, I am there. Even if you need to hold on to me or push off me to come up for a breath, I will handle it. Just stay calm.”
Those words gave me a huge boost in confidence. From that moment on, I trusted Peter completely and followed every instruction you gave. After my first dive, the feedback and encouragement you shared further strengthened my confidence and started enjoying the learning process.
Behind every successful course is someone who quietly ensures that everything runs smoothly, and for this freediving course, @Sneha was truly the backbone of the entire experience. Her presence during the open-water sessions was both reassuring and motivating.
The observations, corrections, and guidance she provided during my dives helped me improve my technique and become more efficient in the water.
Looking back at the course description, I can honestly say that I experienced everything that was promised.
I built a new level of comfort in the water, understood the science and reasoning behind freediving techniques, and gained a much deeper understanding of equalisation and safety procedures. The supportive learning environment created by both of you made it easy to learn alongside @all fellow participants and progress at my own pace. Finally, transitioning from the pool to open water was a truly rewarding experience.
What impressed me most was that every point mentioned in the course outline was not just taught—it was genuinely experienced.
Thank you, Peter and Sneha, for an unforgettable learning experience. I am grateful for the knowledge, confidence, and comfort in the water that I gained through this course, and I look forward to continuing my freediving journey with the strong foundation you helped build.

For 5000 the amount of learning, practice session and support was more than I expected.
The pool sessions were excellent. I felt calm, confident, and was able to stay in a relaxed state while practicing the techniques. However, my experience changed significantly once we moved to open water in the quarry. As someone with not many open water experience, I found the first day quite overwhelming. I was anxious, struggled to relax, and even ended up swallowing water repeatedly while trying to equalize. It took a lot of effort just to get comfortable with the environment.
On the second day, however, things improved dramatically. Since I was already familiar with the surroundings, I was much calmer and was finally able to focus on applying the actual freediving techniques rather than managing my anxiety.
Based on this experience, I would like to suggest considering an additional open-water session.
Overall I loved the course , it was beautifully organized and the theory classes were very helpful didn’t feel sleepy that early in the morning either. This definitely has opened a whole new adventure sports to explore.

It was great connecting with Peter after many years. So for the people who may not know him. Our generation (a lot of us) credit him for introducing the outdoors to Chennaities, through CTC. Be it the treks, various clean up initiatives, group marathons and even triathlons. Peter introduced them in their raw form ( non coperatised) and that was simply stemming from the love of it. I have told my daughters many stories about him. And when Nafisa told me about this course my instinctive reaction was if its by Peter it will be good and definitely safe. As logistics was an issue for her and Jamila, i signed up too. Im glad i did, learnt a great deal, yet again about myself and now a new skill most of them are unaware of. Im sure if Sneha and Peter continue with the same enthusiam, this would become a movement in itself. Thank you all for being part of this journey and once again thank you Peter and Sneha for introducing me to a new adventure and letting me discover something new about myself. See you all soon. Dive Safe..

I was honestly scared of depths and never imagined I’d be able to free dive in open waters. But during the training, I ended up touching the floor of the lake multiple times, and experiencing the thermocline was surreal.
You and Sneha made sure we clearly understood all the concepts of freediving and the sessions were very informative and confidence building. You’ve given me a new courage to face deep waters, and it doesn’t scare me anymore.
I’m truly grateful for this experience and will definitely recommend you guys to everyone I know when you launch the next batch. I’d love to stay connected and will be enrolling in the alpine bootcamp as well 🫶

It’s been wonderful experience Peter. Me being a non swimmer initially I was scared to get into the water and literally frightened but your presence and Sneha’s presence brought the warmth and confidence and slowly I got into the open water. I m happy and delightful me being the part of the freediving course. It was wonderful learning and extraordinary experience and lifetime memories. I would pursue my freediving whenever and wherever I get opportunity and I owe my gratitude to you and Sneha for brining this sport to me
Thanks

I had an amazing time at the Freediving Bootcamp. As someone with no formal swimming background and some health concerns, I honestly didn’t think I could do it—but hitting a one-minute breath-hold was a huge ‘Aha’ moment for me.
What I loved most was that this camp felt completely driven by passion rather than profit. Peter, Sneha, and Shakti were incredibly patient, never rushed us. They covered everything from the basics to choosing the right gear, and even shared great insights into scuba diving. It felt personal, well-structured, and genuinely supportive.
I’m already looking forward to joining your independent hiking bootcamp in Manali this October. Thanks for everything!

Thank you Peter for putting this freediving course together!
As a parkour coach, overcoming physical obstacles is a huge part of my life. I’ve always had the fear of under water swimming beyond a certain depth which I had to overcome and this course has helped me break that fear with all the extensive theory sessions and push my capabilities to further depths. Peter and Sneha’s clear break down of concepts/techniques and under water support has taught us literally to keep calm under pressure (pun intended). Would definetly recommend this to anyone who loves exploring other worlds!

Calmness, peace, thoughtlessness – I would not have associated these words with the feeling of being in water till now. Free diving course has fundamentally established a new way for me to experience the depths of water. The feeling of switching off from the constant noise and rush of the outside world, slowing down your nervous system, and submitting to the deep is indescribable. Its akin to meditation but inside water as Peter aplty says.
I eagerly look forward to apply all things I have learnt in this course to the beautiful world of water around our planet. Thanks to Peter and Sneha for bringing awareness to this adventure sport in India. Your passion for the sport is palpable in the way you teach with so much enthusiasm and patience.

About Me
I grew up in water bodies during my childhood swimming in lakes and rivers near my hometown. Since I moved to Chennai in 1998 I loved swimming in the sea seeing the sunrise above the open waters kilometers from the coastline. As part of the Chennai Trekking Club I organized open water swimming sessions with beginners for many years in the quarries South of the city. We also organized many Triathlons and Swimathons with thousands of participants from across India. A few years ago I swam 13km in the sea from my home in Palavakkam to Marina.
Started my journey freediving below the water in the sea and quarries of Chennai and Pondicherry. I am a certified Scuba rescue diver and have done hundred+ independent dives in Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.
Today, my goal is simple—to share this passion with others. Through this freediving course, I want to introduce fellow ocean enthusiasts to the magic of exploring beneath the surface, to help them feel more connected to the ocean, and to experience a kind of freedom that only freediving can offer.
